The Heart Behind "Unfettered Art"

I founded Camouflage to Canvas: Unfettered Art because I believe that creativity should be exactly that, unrestricted. We often carry "camouflage" of our own, the masks we wear to hide our pain, our disabilities, or our struggles. My mission is to help you peel back those layers.

As a multimedia artist and graphic designer, I don't just create art; I guide others to find their own creative voice. Whether I am leading a paint party, speaking from a stage as a motivational speaker, or writing my latest book, my goal is to show you that your story isn't over—it’s just waiting for a splash of color.

The Warrior’s Palette

Life changed when I became a Lupus Warrior. This daily battle with an invisible illness required a new kind of resilience. I realized that while I couldn't always control the "flare," I could control the brush. Painting became my sanctuary, a place where the "camouflage" of pain and military structure could finally be traded for a canvas of unfettered expression.

My work is deeply influenced by the masters of light and emotion: Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Like them, I am captivated by the delicate beauty of nature. Whether I am capturing the intricate detail of a flower or the vastness of a landscape, my art is an invitation to slow down and find wonder in the small, significant details that surround us.

The Turn to the Canvas

I discovered that while I couldn't always control what was happening inside my body, I could control what happened on the canvas. Painting became my sanctuary. Whether it’s the bold, textured strokes of oils, the versatility of acrylics, or the fluid grace of watercolors, art allowed me to process my service, my health, and my healing in a way words never could.

Today, I run Camouflage to Canvas. I am a multimedia artist, a professional graphic designer, and the host of the Camouflaged Table podcast. My mission is to help you live "unfettered"—free from the labels, the diagnoses, and the trauma that try to keep you in a box.

I’m currently writing my third book, Out of the Blue, to share the step-by-step artistic tools that helped me find my way back to color.
