Art has a way of finding us when we need it most. For much of my life, my creative spark was a quiet hum in the background—a love for pencils and crayons that wasn't fully nurtured until I rediscovered it in my late 30s. After years of serving my country and my family, and navigating life as a Lupus Warrior, I finally retired in 2021 to fully commit to my craft.
These books are the heartbeat of that commitment. They are not just stories; they are invitations to heal, to breathe, and to find beauty in the blue.
I want these words to be accessible to everyone who needs them. You can find my work through the following outlets:
Major Retailers: Available in digital and paperback formats through Amazon and select online bookstores. (CLICK ON INDIVIDUAL BOOK IMAGES BELOW TO BE TAKEN TO AMAZON)
The Exclusive Experience: For a more personal touch, you can purchase copies directly through my website.
Signed Copies: I am honored to offer personally signed copies exclusively through my site. These are not available anywhere else and serve as a special "thank you" for supporting my mission to share healing through art.
I wrote my first book, Camouflaged Shame (Uncensored), because I realized that so many of us—especially those of us who have worn the uniform—carry heavy burdens in silence. For too long, I let past hurts and the weight of "shame" stay hidden beneath the surface.
Why I wrote it: I needed to peel back the layers of my own experiences as a veteran and a woman to show that our past does not have to define our future. It was a raw, honest effort to give a voice to the things we often feel we must hide.
Who I hope to reach:
This book is for the veterans, the survivors, and anyone who feels they are living behind a mask. If you have ever felt that your struggle makes you "less than," I wrote this to tell you that you are seen, you are worthy, and you are not alone.
Out of the Blue, is a deeper dive into the transformative power of creativity. It explores how I used painting and digital art to navigate the "blue" moments of life—those times of sadness, illness, and uncertainty—and turned them into a source of strength.
This book is designed to guide you through your own healing journey, proving that even when life takes us in unexpected directions, we can always find our way back to our truest selves through expression.
The Art of Living – A Complete Guide to Creativity, Healing, and the Creative Life
The Art of Living is a transformational guide that explores the profound connection between creative expression and emotional restoration. Drawing from her extensive background as a multimedia artist and art therapy facilitator, Jeanette Pizarro-Harpe offers readers a pathway to utilize art as a powerful tool for healing.
The book moves beyond traditional art instruction to emphasize a process-oriented creative practice. Rather than focusing on the final aesthetic product, Pizarro-Harpe encourages readers to embrace the act of creation itself as a means of discovery and growth. This approach is designed to help individuals navigate personal challenges and find peace through the rhythmic stroke of a brush or the blending of colors.
"Art is not just what I do; it is how I survived. I hope these pages help you find your own canvas." — Jeanette Pizarro-Harpe
